This is how we see Lewis.

Very important information about Lewis

Favourite healthy meal and favourite treat

I’m a big Meera Sodha fan, her recipes manage to get so much flavour out of every ingredient. Her Daily Dal and Chana Masala are my go-tos.
I love Thai food. I think I make delicious authentic mango sticky rice, sweet and salty!

One hobby you have and one you wish you had

I love wild swimming, it’s peaceful. I wish I had a bass guitar to play around with, I used to enjoy that.

Favourite software you use at work and favourite software you use for fun

I’ve been using TextExpander and 1Password for so many years I’m pretty much reliant on them for day-to-day work. Outside work, Paprika and YNAB are probably my MVPs. When I first started using YNAB I was 9k in debt, and now I have savings and everything!

Tea or coffee?

Black coffee!

Working from home… in your pyjamas or in outdoor clothes?

Just a simple t-shirt and jeans for me most days.

And last but not least…

Lewis likes filters.

What do you bring to the Convivio table?

I have quite a broad skill set, having worked in design, development, and research at different stages of my career.

Lewis’ superpower is versatility: UX, coding, analytics, accessibility… he wears many hats!

What‘s your favourite part of working at Convivio?

I think that a good level of empathy, trust, and freedom is important for any company that needs a high level of performance to succeed. This is especially true at distributed companies like ours.

And the biggest challenge?

We’re a relatively young and small company that has existed during a really turbulent time in the UK. Our main challenge was surviving, and now I think it’s about finding a way to grow and thrive while still maintaining the values that we believe in.

How do you feel about free range work?

Distributed working is a trade off. To be successful you’ve got to make the most of the upsides like:

  • increased flexibility,
  • productivity,
  • and work/life balance,

while trying to minimise the downsides:

  • increased responsibility,
  • isolation,
  • and difficulty communicating.

It is hard work. Sometimes it would be easier if we were all in the same room! You can read more on this page I wrote on our jobs site.

This is one of Lewis’ desks.

What are you reading/learning/exploring at the moment?

I bought a 19-year old converted VW Campervan last year! I’ve never owned a vehicle before so it’s been a huge learning experience! I literally knew nothing about vehicles, so everything that goes wrong is a new lesson.
